Ronald H Augustin is the Deputy Senior Vice President Security Services KLM Royal Dutch Airline, Director KLM Security Risk Management and Outstations, Chairman SkyTeam Aviation Security FE and a Member of Air France-KLM Security Management Team. Previously before his present role, Ronald also held the roles at KLM of Head Security Outstation, Head of Security Latin America & Caribbean and Head of Security Europe & Cargo. Ronald is also very well known for his advisory roles outside of KLM over the last few years including: for the European Development Bank, Advisor Drugs Smuggling Task Force (Dutch Government), Chairman Platform Unruly Passengers, and Vice-Chairman Coordination Group Crime in Aviation Caribbean Nations. Prior to KLM, Ronald worked in the Royal Marechaussee (several functions in Police and Intelligence) and was Deputy Commander Dutch Contingent, Mostar, Bosnia, (Former Yugoslavia)

Steve Oswald is vice president and general manager of Intelligence and Security Systems (I&SS), a division of Boeing’s Network and Space Systems. In this role, he is responsible for providing integrated solutions for the intelligence community and homeland security customers. I&SS is comprised of five major program areas: Cyber and Information Solutions, Digital Receiver Technologies, Global Security Solutions, Mission Operations, and Mission Systems, with over 3000 Boeing employees at multiple sites across the United States. Oswald’s principle location is in Northern Virginia. Prior to this assignment, Oswald was vice president and program manager of Boeing’s Space Shuttle program, supporting United Space Alliance and NASA in the operation of the Shuttle system. Oswald holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.

Hassan M Eltaher is the president of AVIATION CANADA; a consulting enterprise specialising in aviation security intelligence. He has held the positions of Chief, Civil Aviation Intelligence and Assessments, Chief/Acting Director, Marine Security Planning all with the Canadian Department of Transport. Prior to this he worked as Senior Analyst, Threat and Risk Assessments for the Ministry of the Interior in Ottawa. His professional career has also covered various operational and management aspects of civil aviation namely with Pacific Western Airlines in Western Canada, then as Director, Airline Management Training Programs for the International Aviation Management Training Institute in Montreal. Prior to this he was a Manager of a cargo company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Hassan has worked and lived in the USA, Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco and Libya. Additionally he was an adjunct lecturer in Middle Eastern, North African and Islamic issues at the universities of Ottawa and Calgary. Hassan holds an M.B.A. in Aviation Management (with Distinction) from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the USA, and a B.A. in Political Studies and International Relations from the American University of Beirut.

Phil Blum has worked within the Aviation Industry since 1989; his work locations have predominately been within the major UK Airports and most recently in Dubai Airports. During his working career within the Aviation Security industry, Phil has been involved in a number of government working groups looking at how to improve security standards by developing policy, process, technology and people skills to enhance the ever changing demands of the Aviation Security Sector. Phil believes a modern day Security Manager is no longer able to survive on security knowledge / expertise alone. They are now required to look to the future from a technology perspective in order to improve not only security standards, but build in the customer satisfaction requirement around the complete security product achieved by technical innovations and human factor engineering.

Andrew Whittaker, Director-Global Aviation Solutions joined G4S plc in June 2009 as leader of the company’s Aviation Solutions business. G4S has an established aviation security business, providing a comprehensive range of services to more than 150 airports and airlines across 46 countries. Andrew’s role is to establish G4S as the market leader in aviation security solutions, providing a one-stop shop for systems, technology and manpower outsourced solutions. Andrew joined G4S from Unisys where he was Vice President and General Manager of its Asia Pacific Aviation business. In this role he built Unisys into the leading aviation IT solutions provider in China. Andrew lives in Melbourne, Australia, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and prior to joining Unisys was a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Captain Mohammed Aziz is the Advisor to Middle East Airlines’ Chairman since 2002, and has been the Chairman of the Arab Air Carrier Organization (AACO) Safety Committee since 1998, and the AACO AVSEC W/G since 2001. He also represents MEA and AACO on various international committees and initiatives. Captain Aziz is an active flying pilot with more than 19,000 flying hours, he is also a certified ICAO AVSEC Professional Manager, a certified IATA safety and security instructor, a certified ICAO security auditor and instructor. He has carried out many international audits on behalf of the organization and helped conduct many courses, including certification of auditors and instructors and AVSEC PM. Captain Aziz was also nominated in 2003 by the Lebanese Prime Minister as expert in the committee charged with compiling the Lebanese National Civil Aviation Security Program and affiliated programs. He is a listed AVSEC professional manager with ICAO and ACAC, a registered air safety investigator and a human factors expert with extensive management experience in airline operations, safety, security, environment and quality. Academically, he has a Ph.D. from the University of Alexandria, an MBA in Aerospace Management from the Toulouse Business School, an MBA in Operations Management from Cambridge Int’l University, an MA and a BA from the Beirut Arab University.

Dr Khaled Almazroui is currently the General Manager at Fujairah International Airport. After graduating from St. Louis University, USA, with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics 1990, he obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration in Aviation & a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Science in 1993 from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, USA. Dr. Khaled Almazroui joined Fujairah International Airport and worked in different positions until 2001 when he became the General Manager of the airport. In June 2006, he obtained his Doctoral degree in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing Management from University of Lincoln, UK. He currently lectures on a part-time basis, the Business and Marketing courses at Ajman University.

Axworthy MSyI is the Regional Aviation Security Liaison Officer, UK Department for Transport (TRANSEC), British Embassy, UAE and has been in the aviation security industry for 32 yrs after leaving the HM Forces UK. He worked with British Airways Security Services for 15 years, engaged with aviation security audits and surveys. Since 1992 he has worked with the UK DfT both domestically within the UK and extensively overseas. As the RASLO Middle East he has been based at the British Embassy Dubai since February 2003.

Max Snijder is the Managing Director / Partner at the European Biometrics Group and the CEO at European Biometrics Forum. Max is one of the leading independent biometrics experts in Europe and his practical experience and integrated approach has led to an overall view on the biometrics and ID-management business. This includes strategic aspects of biometrics deployments (like costs/benefits, risk analysis and business models), as well as issues on functional requirements, use cases and processes. In the field of testing and certification of biometric equipment and systems he plays an important role in establishing European capabilities for testing and certification of biometric components and systems. After a career as an entrepreneur in the not-for-profit sector Max became one of the pioneers of biometrics in the Netherlands. After several years of extensive experience with numerous biometric projects like Privium at Schiphol Airport, he founded the European Biometrics Group in 2004 with the purpose of bringing together the fragmented knowledge and experience in the field of biometrics. His network of experts cover all relevant areas of biometrics, from strategic to operational, from legal to technical. As an expert himself he is involved in several projects and consortia, ranging from passports and visa to large scale watch list applications and Registered Traveler Programs. For the European Commission he contributed to a study on the feasibility of a European Registered Traveler Program. Today, Max is involved in the key areas of the biometrics business. On an European level he is involved in numerous workshops, committees and expert groups. As an independent consultant he is frequently being hired to review, supervise and monitor projects that involve biometrics. He works for several European member states’ governments on passports, AFIS and visa projects. Max is frequently invited to speak at conferences, seminars, workshops and expert meetings, such as the Security Defense Agenda, Irish Council for BioEthics, the Dutch Innovation Platform, ESRIF, and World eID, As CEO of the European Biometrics Forum he is Chairman of the International Biometrics Advisory Council and the annual European Biometrics Seminar.

Engineer Mohamed Abu Baker Al Farea, Vice President Corporate Safety, Security and Quality, has extensive experience of over 24 years in the aviation industry at various senior levels in areas including operations, security, finance, planning, technical and regulatory. Mohamed was involved in the start-up phases of various airlines in the UAE. Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Science in General Studies and a Master in Business Study, Management; he has also obtained a Higher Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering. Mohamed has obtained several international aviation licenses, certificates and diploma in the field of aviation, and he frequently represents the UAE in various important aviation conferences and meetings. Recently, Mohamed was selected to be a member of the IATA Security Committee. He started his career with British Airways. He also worked with Gulf Air Gamco and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. He was a former director of Aviation Safety and Security in the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in the UAE and the Chairman of Arab Civil Aviation Commission Safety and Standard Committee. Prior to joining Etihad Airways as Vice President Corporate Safety, Security and Quality he was the Managing Director of Istithmar World Aviation (IWA) Executive Jets, the executive jet operations wing of Dubai World.

Prashanta Pandey was born 02 March 1957 in the eastern part of India. He majored in English Literature in 1978 and then joined the Indian Army in the same year as a Short Service Commissioned Officer. He left as a Captain in 1984 after expiry of the contractual period. Thereafter, worked he as the Chief Security Officer of a prestigious five star hotel chain in India before joining Gulf Air in 1986. Prashanta was In-Charge of Flight Security till 2006 till he was taken on-board as part of the Corporate Security Team at Gulf Air’s Corporate HDQ in the Kingdom of Bahrain. As the Security Compliance Manager of Gulf Air, he built up the security quality control system throughout its network and was the Lead Security Auditor of Gulf Air. He left Gulf air in Aug 2009 to pursue other interests. He is a certified IATA AVSEC PM (Aviation Security Professional Manager), currently works in advisory role to a few companies helping them develop a Corporate Security Training Programme, Emergency Response Manual etc.

He establishes and monitors aviation security standards for air cargo regulated agents, known/unknown shipping agents and air cargo facilities/cargo warehouses at Kingdom-wide international airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This includes the application procedures for issuing the personnel security ID badges to GACA staff and vehicles entry permits to GACA headquarter. Prior to this role Sami was the Department Head for Asset Protection and determined that the National Commercial Bank evaluated the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) security and safety requirements. Sami holds a Bachelor Degree in Aviation Management & Business Adminstration from the University of Dubuque, Iowa, USA.

Nawazish Khan worked on all the phases of the disastrous earthquake that hit Pakistan in Oct 2005 i.e. Rescue, Relief, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation. He was the Coordinator of one of the world's largest Air Operations - OPERATION LIFELINE in which 148 helicopters took part, in Federal Relief Commission working for the rescue and relief of the earthquake victims, for which he was commended by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan and also by the President of USA. His present assignment has exposed him to coordination, evaluation, negotiation, approval, implementation and monitoring of foreign funded development projects worth over 1 billion US Dollars in 12 different socio-economic sectors with major sectors like Education, Health, WATSAN, Livelihoods, Social Protection, DRR and Environment, in the earthquake-affected areas of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. His present assignment as “Chief Coordinator” requires direct contribution at every stage of the project cycle; from need assessment to feed back and rearranging of funding priorities for the desired impact. This association has equipped him with valuable experience and insight into various aspects of the development process in a variety of sectors.
